Neurontin as we used to know it nowadays was invented more than 40 years ago in Japan, by the pharmaceutical company that initially was going to invent antispasmodic and muscle relaxant. The patent for manufactory and distribution of generic Neurontin (also known as Gabapentin) was later sold to Parke-Davis (Warner-Lambert which collaborated with Pfizer in 2000).
